I have just recently completed a listing of the names of some 23,975 immigrants who left Palermo, Sicily and landed in the Port of New Orleans, Louisiana between the years 1859-1901. The source for this information is the National Archives and Records Service, a part of the General Services Administration, New Orleans, Louisiana. The names have been recorded as they appear on the Captain's Log of each ship. A separate alphabetical index has been compiled of the passenger names for handy reference.
These data have been transferred to a compact disk which is MAC/PC compatible, entitled "Birds of Passage. An annotated listing of Italian immigrants who departed Palermo, Sicily and arrived at the Port of New Orleans, Louisiana, 1859-1901." This listing, by ship, includes the immigrant's age, marital status, village of origin, ship's name, date of arrival, passenger's location on ship and some miscellaneous information regarding luggage accompanying each passenger. Included in this publication are eight figures of selected ships and one of the old immigration station at the Port of New Orleans.
The price per disk is: $35 plus $2 sh/h.
